Gardenity Covid-secure working practice

In order to minimise the risk of virus transmission between myself and the Client or myself and the Landscaping Contractor, I follow these rules:

  • All meetings take place outdoors, in the garden.

  • If the only way to the garden is through the house, I enter and leave the house quickly wearing a face mask.

  • In the garden, we maintain the social distance of 2 metres (7 feet) minimum. If this is difficult, I wear a face mask and recommend that the Client does the same.

  • I do not accept drinks or snacks. On longer visits, I bring my own.

  • For any hands-on work, e.g. planting, I bring my own tools and only use those.

  • I discuss Covid-security with the Landscaping Contractor and the Client. The Contractor should have his own policy on the matters of health and safety in general, and Covid in particular.

covid 19 and Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015

Garden landscaping falls under this law, which refers to health and safety in construction. It requires that a written risk assessment is produced for each construction project highlighting any site-specific risks and describing means of mitigation of those risks.

Although both the Client and the Landscaping Contractor are involved, it is the designer (in this case myself) who is responsible for putting together the document – the Health and Safety File. I make sure that Covid prevention measures feature in this document.
