Design for every budget - the options explained

Do you love the idea of a naturalistic garden, a cool woodland glade with a wildflower meadow? Or is a cottage garden or a ‘tropical jungle’ more your style? My degree in horticulture and a lifetime of working with plants and making gardens mean that I can help you make those ideas a reality.

Whether you have a clear picture of what you want for your garden or if you don’t know where to start, I will work with you to develop and nurture the garden of your dreams. My expertise in garden design will help you to create an outdoor space that is restorative, uplifting and rewarding whatever your chosen style.

I only work locally so I have extensive knowledge of the local soils, local climate, and local suppliers. This means I can support and guide you in choosing the best plants and landscaping materials for your garden and your budget.

My Step-by-Step Process for Garden Design and Makeover

Step 1

We start with a free, no-obligation visit to talk about what you want to achieve. I take this opportunity to begin to get to know your garden.

Step 2

I provide you with a written quotation for my work in the first phase of the project (the masterplanning) and an estimate for any further design work.

Step 3

I gather all the relevant information by surveying the garden in detail and asking you further questions about the garden, how you intend to use it and about your design preferences. We finalise the Design Brief.

Step 4

In my studio, following the Brief I produce a Concept Design for you to consider. You are presented with a 2D plan, a 3D drawing and photographs clearly explaining the design ideas. We spend some time with these until you are happy with all the proposals.

Step 5

I present you with the Masterplan (the amended Concept Design) and Construction Documents needed to create the structural elements of your new garden.

Step 6

Having listened to your wishes with regards to the planting, I put together a Planting Plan. This is a scale drawing showing the names and positions of the new plants. With it, you receive a Plant Schedule (a shopping list) and a cost estimate of the planting scheme.

Step 7 (optional)

If you do not already have a landscaper for the project, I can recommend one or more and - if needed - prepare a tender document.

Step 8 (optional)

If you wish, I visit the site during the construction phase to advise on any issues that might emerge.

Step 9

Once the hard landscaping is in place, I provide you with a quotation for the planting scheme, source the plants and put them in. This gives me an opportunity to adjust the design if there are any problems with plant availability.

Step 10 (optional)

Finally, to help you look after your new garden you can choose any of the following support:

  • receive verbal instructions on how to maintain the plants,

  • receive written instructions,

  • contact me by phone or email with specific queries,

  • arrange a paid advice visit,

  • arrange for me to overhaul the garden regularly in spring and autumn.

Garden Design Lite

A simplified, lower-cost version of this service is also available.

Following Steps 1, 2 and 3, I create a Concept Design. After I have had your feedback, you receive the final scale plan with supporting illustrations (but no construction details), and general guidance with regards to planting in different parts of the garden.

You then have the opportunity to make the final decisions within the framework that the Concept Design has created.

I needed a complete garden renovation. The proposed plans received were professional and easy to visualise. I think considering the work involved Gardenity is excellent value for money. Absolutely everything was taken care of from start to finish and continued support as and when required.

I now have a stunning garden which attracts very favourable comments from all who see it. It is a pleasure to look out upon everyday and note the changes. I truly cannot recommend Eva enough, she works with such a passion for her plants and creativity.
